NEW: See your changes on your website before you publish them, and share them with others for review.
Previewing lets you see your saved changes on your real website before you publish them. Use it to check how a page looks, catch mistakes, and get feedback or sign-off from colleagues and clients.
Preview needs a preview site: a copy of your website that your development team has set up to show unpublished content. If yours isn't set up yet, clicking Preview shows a Deployment Configuration Required for Preview message. Ask your developer to follow Setting Up Preview.
When you edit a content item, a page or a content list, the Preview button is in the bar at the top of the editor. The button appears once the item has been saved at least once. Click the arrow next to it for more options:
| Option | What it does | Use it when |
|---|---|---|
| Preview | Opens your page in Web Studio, inside Agility | You want to see your changes while you keep working |
| Preview in New Tab | Saves your changes, then opens the preview in a new browser tab | You want the full-size page on its own |
| Copy Preview Link | Copies a link to the preview so you can send it to someone | Someone else needs to review it. See Share a Preview Link |
| View in Live Mode | Opens the published version of the page | You want to compare with what's live now |
| Web Studio | Saves your changes, then opens Web Studio | Same as Preview |
Preview shows the last saved version of your content, not what you're typing right now. Save, then refresh the preview to see your latest changes.
The exception is Web Studio. If your developer has connected it fully, Web Studio can show your edits as you type. See Previewing in Web Studio.
Content in the Unpublished state can't be previewed until you make and save a new change. See Previewing, Publishing, and Content States.
To get feedback from someone, send them a preview link. They don't need an Agility account, and they'll see your saved changes on the real site.
Previewing Content prior to publishing is a crucial feature Content Editors have come to expect with a Content Management System.
Agility Previews let you to view the staging version of your content live on your website without publishing them publicly.
This lets you to verify the content you are editing, and allows you to work collaboratively with the rest of your team by sharing a Preview Link with the Preview Content.
